Those charged include Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga, 19; Marcos Sorto-Argueta, 19; Marco Mendoza-Monjaras, 19; and Juan Cubillas-Rodriguez, 18, all of Leesburg, were slapped with various offenses, Leesburg police said Thursday, Aug. 10.
The teens were charged in the following incidents:
May 21: A subject brandished a firearm at multiple victims in the 0-99 block of Hancock Place NE. Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga has been charged in this investigation with one count of brandishing a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual.
June 9: Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga, Marco Mendoza-Monjaras, and Juan Cubillas-Rodriguez tried to extort money from a victim on the 900 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE. Martinez-Alvarenga was charged with one count of gang participation and one count of attempted extortion; Mendoza-Monjaras was charged with one count of brandishing a machete, one count of attempted extortion, and one count of gang participation; Cubillas-Rodriguez has been charged in this investigation with one count of attempted extortion.
June 18: A man in his 20s was shot in his upper body on the 0-99 block of Hancock Place NE. Marcos Sorto-Argueta was previously charged with one count of aggravated malicious wounding and one count of possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual. Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga has since been charged with one count of brandishing a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual.
June 29: Leesburg police officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 400 block of Evans Ridge Terrace NE for multiple reports of gunfire in the parking lot. Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga has been charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, one count of destruction of property, one count of possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual, and one count of gang participation.
July 20: Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga, who was wanted at the time, was found armed with a handgun inside of a residence in the 0-99 block of Fort Evans Road NE. Leesburg police found Martinez-Alvarenga him and recovered the weapon. Martinez-Alvarenga has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm by an undocumented individual.
Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga and Marco Mendoza-Monjaras have each been identified as being associated with Mara Salvatrucha, commonly known as MS-13.
Marcos Sorto-Argueta, Emerson Martinez-Alvarenga, and Marco Mendoza-Monjaras each remain held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center with no bond. Juan Cubillas-Rodriguez was released from the Loudoun ADC on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
